really good job by Dallas, turned nothing into 3 assets including a first rounder just by signing Jagr.

pretty brilliant move

Real good deal for the Stars. Hopefully Lane can carve a niche in Dallas and stick with the big club. Was in tough to crack the B's lineup but he was well liked by fans.

Heard good things about Payne too, I think the emergence of Camara this year made him a little redundant for the B's. Hope both turn out well for you guys!

When y'all made the finals and the pick turned into a 1st, the trade looks very good. I don't know much about Payne but MacDermid appears to have NHL ability on a bottom line. Add this to the 2nd from Vancouver plus an above average defensive prospect for Derek Roy and I believe the Stars definitely got value for their trade deadline moves.

6 Picks in the first 101 of the draft + some tradeable defensive prospects + a couple of tradeable veteran Dmen.

So many options.

A) Stick with the picks and add to the assets
B) Trade & try to get into the top 3
C) Trade & get a stud #1 Dman from a team wishing to cut salary.

I'd like option B but I am not sure the top 3 picks are even available to trade into, plus other teams (Calgary & CBJ) also have multiple first round picks & may also be in contention to move up.

Thoughts?

From what I've read: big kid, kind of buried on Plymouths depth chart but showed offensive upside when given an opportunity. Good hitter, will drop the mitts. Bottom 6er, who might chip in a few here and there at the NHL level.
